Made in Occupied Japan

Porcelain items marked "Occupied Japan" guarantees the item was made in the Occupied Japan time frame, ranging from 1945 to 1952. To insure the item is not a fake, rub the marking with fingernail polish remover, if it does not rub off it is an original. It is best to research if you have an item that is marked "Occupied Japan" or "Made in Occupied Japan". There are some common pieces as well as
some very highly collectible porcelain pieces, ranging from dishes to figurines. There are quite a variety of "Made in Occupied Japan" marks.
Plates marked "Nippon" or "Japan" predate American occupation. The former signifies an item made no later than the 1920s and the latter typifies china made just before the war. The word "Occupied" always precedes "Japan" for items dated 1945 through 1952. The mark appears with a T circled by an O.
